How old must a car until it falls into the old or the classification of collection?
I have a black 1999 Toyota Solara SLE coupe, Garage kept, with 31,000 miles on it in good condition. She turns 10 soon. When could it be considered a classic car or collector – or will it all? Is the status of collection of antiquities or increase its value? Although it is still a car very fine fine, it happens ten years and is currently of little value at present, compared to prices of new vehicles, and I'd like a new car soon. Should I sell now and buy another one or keep as an antique? I could really use what ever trade my allowence got her to a new car, but I do not want to throw it either! It depends on what you ask, and captioning for the license or insurance purposes … Here's the scoop on the two: the provision Licensing is an event the state, it depends where you live, or the insurance company if you intend to have it insured. For example, I live in Ohio, and licensing and for regisistration any car 25 years may be considered an "antique" and describes as "historic" plates, or you can even use the same dishes from the year your car is made in your actual plates (I bought a set of 1966 Ohio plates on eBay and they are now the official plates on my 1966 Galaxie 500 XL). There are limits even though generally not a regular transport and drive to / from auto shows and the occasional Sunday drive. Here in OH, you pay $ 10 for historical plaques and they are good forever. For the "classic" status, your plates called "classical" below and you can only drive 2500 miles per year. For insurance companies, it depends. I am insured with Hagerty (www.hagerty.com) and I even insured my 1985 LeSabre with them. Insurance is ultra cheap (typically $ 150/year with a $ 0 deductible comp / coll), but the car must be kept in a locked garage when not in use, and there are restrictions on drivers (anyone under 25). The newer vehicles are generally required to be strictly serial. There are other companies out there too, but I can say that I had a claim with Hagerty and were very impressed. If your production Solara is low, you may want to know. I know there are clubs dedicated to the Pontiac Fieros years like 1980 and my 1985 LeSabre Collector's Edition. Sell now or keep on … The prices of muscle cars many years 1960, which were relatively cheap in the 1980s now fetch $ 50K-$ 100K now. At nine years and 31K is equivalent to less than 3,500 km per year, but with a car specialty as it may not be unusual. I see a lot of 2000-2003 two-seat Thunderbirds with ultra low mileage because they are rarely drivers daily. You make a lot of shows to go to your car interest. I belong to the Ford Galaxie Club of America. There are lots of Camaro, Mustang, Fairlane, etc. There are car clubs across National, state and local level, some general, like all fords (www.lovefords.org), and some individuals like Ford Galaxie (www.galaxieclub.com) as some regional and central Ohio (www.unitedfordowners.com). Google Solara Toyota Club or club and see if something arises. You are usually best placed to determine its value to you. If you really like, keep it. If your situation is such that you really need a vehicle another go around and see. The Internet opens up a market national / international for your Solara.
